BlingCrete won Design Plus Award

BlingCrete won this years De­sign Plus Award, the prize for in­no­va­tive prod­ucts and cutt­ing edge ma­te­rials.

With the prize, the Ger­man De­sign Coun­cil, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Messe Frank­furt,hon­ors in­no­va­tive ma­te­rials and prod­ucts, which giv­en their new qual­i­ty and func­tion have the po­ten­tial to cre­ate add­ed val­ue for the econ­o­my and so­ci­e­ty. The De­sign Plus seal of qual­i­ty award­ed at Ma­te­rial Vi­sion high­lights ma­te­rials and prod­ucts that ex­ploit tech­no­log­i­cal ad­vances progress in their re­sponse to tech­no­log­i­cal, eco­nom­i­cal and eco­log­i­cal ques­tions. "With the high­est num­ber of par­ti­ci­pants this award is the most im­por­tant in the field of in­no­va­tive ma­te­rials" says An­drej Ku­petz, Gen­er­al Ma­n­ag­er of the Ger­man De­sign Coun­cil.

A high pro­file ju­ry has se­lect­ed the win­n­ers. En­tries were judged ac­cord­ing to the ma­te­rials in­no­va­tive qual­i­ty, aes­thet­ic ap­peal and func­tio­n­al­i­ty in ad­di­tion to eco­log­i­cal prop­er­ties. As­pects such as the ex­ten­sive avoi­dance of en­vi­ron­men­tal­ly harm­ful ma­te­rials and en­er­gy con­sum­ing man­u­fac­tur­ing pro­cess­es are be­com­ing in­creas­ing­ly rel­e­vant in the se­lec­tion pro­cess. This year, the ju­ry will com­prise Jo­hannes Bar­ck­mann, Wol­fram Putz, Lars Quade­ja­cob, Rein­hard Ren­n­er and Ni­co­la Statt­mann.

The De­sign Plus Ma­te­rial Vi­sion com­pe­ti­tion is or­ganized by the Ger­man De­sign Coun­cil in co­op­er­a­tion with Messe Frank­furt and was launched in 2005.
