VOTO
Woven willow filament-reinforced plastic with variable fabric density for façade elements in textile timber construction
BAU KUNST ERFINDEN and the Department of Plastics Technology at the Institute of Materials Technology at the University of Kassel are cooperating in the VOTO research project. The aim of the research project is to develop a composite material consisting of a thermoplastic matrix and fabrics embedded in it, made from our solid wood threads. Reciprocally to the technical and aesthetic material properties, we are creating a design for a curtain-type, rear-ventilated façade, which will be implemented 1:1 in a test area towards the end of the project. The central component of the research is, on the one hand, the opacity of the façade material as a function of the fabric density and the plastic, and on the other hand, the material development and characterisation of the material.
The research project is funded by the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AIF) within the framework of the Industrial Cooperative Research (IGF) funding programme. (AIF).
